Reporting to the Director, Financial Services the incumbent oversees day to day financial activities such as accounts payable, procurement, payroll and other day to day activities. The successful candidate will act as a key Divisional support for internal clients and provide outstanding customer services while educating and adhering to financial policies and procedures; perform monthly and ad hoc reporting and analysis for senior management; acts as the central Divisional contact regarding accounting and payroll issues. Advising staff on accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures
Implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities
Processing accounts payable according to the University Guide to Financial Management
Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
Liaising with internal contacts to resolve accounting, payroll and/or HRIS processing issues

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Accounting or Business) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Enrolment in, or completion of an Accounting designation preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of senior financial administration experience.
Experience in complex financial analysis, financial reporting including experience in preparing financial statements, financial forecasting, developing long-range plans and profitability/cost benefit analysis.
Demonstrated experience managing employee HR records and processing all payroll functions.
Experience in reconciling financial information, generating financial reports from a financial system and process improvement.
Experience implementing financial implications of agreements/contracts and interpreting and applying policies, guidelines and procedures.
Demonstrated experience and ability to apply accounting and budgeting knowledge to effectively resolve financial issues, client service issues, improve processes, analyze financial information and identify pertinent issues, andthe ability to communicate financial information to individuals with little financial experience/knowledge.
Experience training and supervising the work of others

Demonstrated ability to design financial reports and present information which clearly conveys a solid understanding of accruals, accounts payable, reconciliation of accounts, transfers, variance analysis, overhead allocation, budgeting, forecasting fixed and variable costs, internal recoveries, statistical analysis, internal controls, audit procedures, testing results, governance, HST, financing and cash flows.
Demonstrated ability and experience in successfully liaising with various stakeholders including upper management and internal departments, providing information and insight on various financial and policy matters including budgeting and forecasting, internal and external funding and other matters as they arise.
Demonstrated knowledge of advanced management accounting, advanced financial accounting, statistics, business finance, Canadian income taxation, advanced auditing and internal controls.
Advanced computer skills required, including experience with the University of Toronto’s financial and advancement systems (FIS, HRIS, and DIS), Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
