The Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO) promotes and strengthens individual organizations and the nonprofit sector by building capacity through undertaking research, developing resources, strengthening connections, and providing leadership on critical, systemic issues that impact the nonprofit sector. The Advocacy & Government Relations Coordinator is an integral part of CCVO's Policy and Research team. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP The Advocacy & Government Relations Coordinator reports to the Director, Policy and Research, and works closely with the Research Manager and other members of the CCVO team.
Supports CCVO's research activities, including coordinating community consultations, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analysing data, and contributing to reports for internal and contracted research projects such as CCVO's Alberta Nonprofit Survey.
Supports collaborative work with other nonprofit organizations on shared policy and research initiatives.

• Works closely with the policy and research team to support CCVO's policy and government relations activities at the local, provincial and federal levels.
• Supports the dissemination of research, policy, and resource materials through CCVO channels such as the website, bulletins, newsletters, workshops, and social media.
• Supports member and stakeholder engagement through The Nonprofit Vote, which includes assisting the management of advocacy campaigns, content development, and administrative support to the governance body.
• Support CCVO's government relations activities as required.

An undergraduate degree with experience in advocacy, government relations, and/or policy analysis.

• Exceptional oral communication and writing skills — able to develop and present material for diverse audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills — confident interacting with leaders in the nonprofit sector and government, and comfortable assisting with facilitating workshops and roundtable discussions.
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, statistical analysis software, and online survey platforms.
• Knowledge of the nonprofit sector is a strong asset.
• Government relations experience is an asset.
• Experience supporting advocacy campaigns is an asset.
• Experience on political campaigns is an asset.
• and to undertake occasional out-of-town travel.

• 35-hour work week and the ability to flex work time to accommodate personal responsibilities
• This full-time, permanent position is 35 hours a week with set working hours of 8:30 - 4:30 MT. A hybrid workplace is a mix of workstyles, work site, and work location. As in-office support in Calgary will be necessary for this position, the ideal candidate will live in the Calgary area.
