POSITION SUMMARY
Urban One is seeking a highly motivated and experienced  Superintendent to join our team in beautiful Victoria, BC. In this role, you will provide leadership and oversight for the entire construction process on-site. You will work closely with the executive team, subtrades, internal staff, and consultants to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

As a  Superintendent , you will play a key role in driving momentum, adhering to schedules, and implementing Urban One’s Safety Program to exceed safety and environmental standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Champion health, safety, and environmental protection, ensuring compliance with Urban One’s Safety Program and surpassing industry standards.


• Supervise, coach, train, and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


• Prepare and oversee weekly production schedules and project look aheads.


• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and quality standards.


• Execute and coordinate work according to contract documents, plans and specifications including managing changes to the scope of work.


• Collaborate with the Project Manager on temporary work hiring decisions and promote productivity among team members including trade partners and suppliers.


• Review and enforce trade contracts and scops of work, addressing discrepancies with project requirements.


• Conduct reviews of drawings for dimensional accuracy, constructability and long-term durability.


• Hold and document regular trade meetings and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, or Construction Management


• Minimum 10 years of field experience with proven experience in a Senior Superintendent role within the construction industry

• Exceptional record of leading a project from pre-construction to completion;


• Solid understanding of contract documents, drawings specifications, scopes of work and project schedule


• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpret stakeholders needs and identify solutions


• Facilitation and mentoring skills - ability to move the team forward and resolve conflict situations


• Gold Seal accreditation (an asset)


• Red Seal Carpenter (Journeyman) Certificate (a strong asset)


• Proven track record of successfully managing diverse construction projects


• PMP designation, LEED AP or Gold Seal accreditation (an asset)
