Position Summary

The Produce Prep is responsible for overseeing the preparation of the fresh produce for sale. This is a position where you will cull, cut, and present The Market's fresh produce in a way that is in-line with our high standards. The produce manager will train you to understand how each product is to be cared for. This position calls for many hours standing on your feet and working with cold water and a knife. Once established, there is ample opportunity for growth within the Produce Department.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Handle and maintain live, fragile fresh produce;

• Is able to follow instructions;

• Moves quickly;

• Works with a prep knife safely;

• Is able to lift at least 50lbs.;

• Actively maintains and communicates Market & Smor's produce inventory with the Department Lead;

• Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for The Market & Smør concept;

• Demonstrates and respects The Market & Smør's value of “respect, truth and kindness” in the daily activities and interactions.

• Adheres to all Market & Smør workplace policies and procedures.

Physical requirements

Regularly required to walk or stand;

Regularly lift and/or move up to 23kg (50lbs.);

Will be required to perform tasks involving firm grasping;

Occasionally be required to bend, twist or squat.

Will be involved in frequent repetitive hand actions.

Will be required to reach above shoulder height and below waist level.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
