Position Summary

A Market Chef is responsible for fully engaging in the kitchen operations, production and growth. Working with the Head Chef, the Market Chef is responsible for creation and maintenance of market-made foods, packaging and ensuring that the product is positioned for optimal and continuous sales. The Market Chef must work within the market's operating guideline so they can optimize sales and work culture.

Responsible for the maintenance, creation and execution of recipes, prepared foods, etc.

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes and quality standards
• Places high value on open communication with team
• Oversee food programs assigned by the Head Chef.
• Ensure proper sanitation, health and safety of the kitchen and its team is being followed.
• Monitor inventory levels in-market and online and perform appropriate inventory assessment.
• Communicate closely with the leadership team and FOH on pricing, information of dishes, selling features and what's to come.
• Follow proper storage compliances.
• Help maintain monthly cost reports.
• Utilizes The Market's shred to create profitability.
• Work closely with the management team to build upon ideas and execute accordingly.
• Engage in open and honest communication in a way that adds value to the workplace culture.
• Works with diverse community population including students and volunteers.
• Continuously looks towards the “big picture” of The Market.

Experience:- Previous experience as a Chef or in a similar role- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines- Strong understanding of food safety regulations- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment- Good communication and teamwork skills

Please note that bartending experience is not relevant to the role of a Chef.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
