Koi is a high-end Japanese restaurant opening at River Rock Casino, set along the banks of the Fraser River with breathtaking views of Vancouver and the North Shore Mountains.
We are building our opening team and are seeking experienced, polished, and service-driven Hosts / Hostesses who are passionate about Japanese cuisine and elevated hospitality.

At Koi, we are committed to delivering an authentic high-end Japanese dining experience at the highest Fine Dining standards. We source only the finest ingredients — premium seafood flown in fresh daily, A5-grade Japanese Wagyu, and the best seasonal local produce. Every dish is crafted with precision and artistry, from signature Aburi-style sushi to delicate sashimi and charcoal-grilled specialties.

Position Overview

As a Host at Koi, you are the first and last impression of our guest experience. You set the tone for an evening of refined hospitality — welcoming guests with warmth, grace, and professionalism.
You master the flow of the dining room, managing reservations, seating logistics, and guest communications with poise and efficiency. Your presence is polished, your demeanor is calm under pressure, and your ability to anticipate guest needs ensures every arrival feels seamless and special. You are the orchestrator of the front-of-house rhythm, collaborating closely with servers, managers, and the kitchen to uphold Koi’s standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

· Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring a memorable first impression
· Manage the reservation system (OpenTable or similar) with accuracy and foresight
· Control the seating flow to optimize table turns while maintaining guest comfort and pacing
· Communicate clearly with the service team and kitchen regarding special occasions, dietary needs, and VIP arrivals
· Answer phone calls and emails with professionalism, handling inquiries, bookings, and waitlist requests
· Maintain the host station, lobby, and entrance areas immaculately clean and organized
· Escort guests to their tables, present menus, and introduce the server with a seamless handoff
· Monitor guest departures, express genuine gratitude, and gather feedback to enhance future visits
· Support FOH team during busy periods by assisting with bussing, resetting, or light runner duties as needed
· Uphold dress code and guest conduct policies with tact and discretion

Qualifications & Requirements

· Minimum 1+ years of hosting or guest-service experience in Fine Dining, luxury hotel, or upscale restaurant environments
· Proficiency with reservation platforms (OpenTable experience is a strong asset)
· Impeccable communication skills — warm, articulate, and professional in person and on the phone
· Polished personal presentation with a professional, poised demeanor
· Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a high-energy, fast-paced setting
· Calm, solution-oriented mindset when handling guest concerns or seating delays
· Genuine interest in Japanese cuisine and hospitality culture
· Serving It Right certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
· Open availability (Full-time / Part-time available)
· Fluency in English required; Japanese or Mandarin is an asset
