General Ledger Accounting Responsibilities
- Month end closing cycle including Recs and JVs.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Assisting and overlooking year end and interim audit.
- Preparing reports for the bank and ensuring compliance.
- Daily bank reconciliation and maintenance for U.S. and Canadian bank accounts.
- Monthly accounts reconciliations and Year end entries / reconciliations.
- Maintaining intercompany schedules for loan, trade and interest.
- Ensuring intercompany accounts are reconciled monthly.
- HST, PST, QST and U.S State tax filings monthly.
- Review of various accrual and amortization entries.
- Assisting users with onboarding in Concur where they can submit their credit card expenses.
- Reviewing the journal entries prepared by junior accountant to ensure accuracy.
- Training Junior Accountant.
- ERP Implementation: Take ownership of GL/Costing areas of EPICOR.
- Prepare monthly closing costing entries and profit reports.
- Costing: Provide costing to sales teams.
- Reports: Prepare monthly/weekly reports like backlog reports, labor hour reports, sales dashboards, inventory reports etc.
- Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels and reconciling discrepancies
- Professional Development:
- Work closely with Senior Cost Accountant. Continuously learn and develop skills in accounting principles, techniques, and software applications.
- Experience of at least 4-5 years of relevant accounting work, preferably in an industrial setting, specifically with general ledger accounting, financial analysis and costing.
- University degree in accounting.
- Actively working towards a professional accounting designation.
- Advanced MS Excel skills – including pivots, macros and advanced formulas for analysis.
- Experience with EPICOR is an asset.
- Attitude of continuous improvement.
