The Acute Division within which the South Sector sits delivers a significant proportion of NHSGGC’s healthcare.
We are now searching for Chief Allied Health Professional in the South Sector. This key appointment will be accountable for both the strategic and operational delivery and development of the Service. The role is vital for both NHSGGC and the South Sector in delivering our aims and aspirations for Better Care, Better Health, Better Workplace and Better Value.
This is a key strategic and operational role requiring the right blend of visible leadership, experience and values necessary to lead and support our organisation. With strong influencing and leadership qualities you will require to evidence significant AHP experience at a senior level in operational management in a healthcare or equivalent, complex environment and will have the ability to inspire confidence and respect to lead and deliver in a politically sensitive and demanding environment.
You will have a proven track record of service delivery. The Chief AHP has responsibility for the professional leadership, professional development, professional standards, and clinical service delivery across all Allied Health Professionals within South Sector.
The post holder is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of AHP services and is accountable to the Director for the delegated management and control of resources within the defined service area.
The post holder will implement, achieve and deliver business and clinical performance targets in accordance with local, regional, and national objectives specified to the South Sector and the Acute Operating Division.
The post holder will provide operational support to the Director in relation to the efficient and effective delivery of safe patient care, clinical governance, performance standards, and contribute widely to operational delivery of the business and clinical service agenda.
The post holder will have direct line management responsibilities for team leads within the service area. The Chief AHP will work collaboratively within services and across service boundaries to develop a whole system approach. Key relationships will be with General Managers, Clinical Service Managers, Lead Nurses, Clinical Directors and Lead Clinicians as well as colleagues across a range of specialties.
The ideal candidate will have extensive AHP leadership experience and be a strategic thinker, able to work at pace across a range of complex services with significant experience of working at a senior management/Board level in a large and complex NHS/Health and Social Care organisation. You must have a robust understanding of the role of AHPs in delivering safe service and experience of working in partnership to bring about effective change and have demonstrable experience of leading service improvement work.

Key to the success of this role will be the ability to contribute to the development of a strong, patient-focused culture which encourages initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communication. Good all-round general management experience is required along with an evidenced performance culture of achievement and patient care at all times.
