What will your typical day look like?

 

As a Senior Manager, Background Check and Anti-Corruption, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the firm’s Background Check program and corruption risk assessments of third party arrangements, ensuring alignment with the firm’s risk management framework, regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• Oversee program performance, including productivity, turnaround times, quality outcomes, service standards, and the effectiveness of operational controls.
• Review and provide direction on complex, sensitive or high-risk background checks and due diligence assessments related to client acceptance, third party relationship arrangements and the firm’s corporate development activities, applying a firmwide perspective to risk evaluation and decision-making. 
• Act as a trusted partner with subject matter experts and senior leaders across the firm to identify, assess and monitor reputational, regulatory, and compliance risks in relation to our clients and third parties.
• Define the strategic roadmap for the Background Check program, including process transformation, technology modernization, AI adoption, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement priorities.
• Lead the development, implementation and governance of procedures and training standards to promote consistency, quality and compliance across the program.
• Monitor emerging regulatory, compliance and reputational risks and incorporate new requirements into team processes and procedures.
• Lead talent management strategies across multiple geographic regions, including capacity planning, workforce planning, research budgets and talent development ensuring operation sustainability and achievement of strategic objectives.
• Drive the delivery of strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects, while guiding team members in leading projects that enhance Deloitte's risk management capabilities in the areas of background checks and Anti-Corruption.

About the team

 

Deloitte's Background Check team plays a critical role in protecting the firm's reputation through risk-based due diligence and background screening of our clients and third parties. You will provide strategic oversight of the firm’s Background Check program, ensuring our team is delivering reliable, timely and high-quality services to support firm’s client and third party acceptance and continuance decisions. In addition, you will oversee the risk assessments of the firm’s third-party relationships as part of the Anti-Corruption program.

You will ensure both programs remain aligned with the firm’s risk management framework, regulatory requirements and strategic priorities, while facilitating effective, efficient, and consistent risk practices across the firm.

Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients and project teams.

 

You are someone with these required skills, experience & qualifications:

 

• 10+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, investigations, legal services, regulatory affairs, due diligence, or a related field
• Proven experience conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) research and due diligence assessments, synthesizing and analyzing information from diverse sources, identifying relevant risk factors, and applying sound professional judgment to support risk-based decision making. 
• Professional and/or academic experience in any of the following areas, such as Risk Sensing, Global Sanctions, International Crime, Anti-Corruption and Anti-Money Laundering 
• Strong understanding of the major geopolitical trends, security and risk events and business or market disruptions, as well as their implications for client and third party risk acceptance and continuance decisions.
• Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and commitment to delivering timely and high quality work, both independently and collaboratively. 
• Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing team members in a hybrid work environment while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Demonstrated agility and adaptability in responding to evolving business priorities and operating effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships, establish credibility and foster trust with stakeholders at all levels across the firm.
• Strong continuous learning mindset, with the ability to apply and share best practices across teams and processes, to amplify impact.

 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $104,000 - $215,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
