As such, we are looking for an individual with an interest in taking on the most interesting bridge work Canada has to offer.This position will be responsible for the preliminary and detailed design of bridges and other civil structures for federal, provincial and municipal clients in Ontario. If you’re interested in working on some of the largest projects in Canada, this is the perfect opportunity to join our hybrid design team.Our Bridge Team has a highly qualified staff experienced in bridge planning, new design, rehabilitation design, inspection, evaluation, and project administration and collaborates with other teams based in Ontario and the rest of Canada, sharing work and knowledge. Our senior staff have published numerous technical papers on bridge design, rehabilitation and construction, and continue to be active on a range of technical and bridge code committees. The firm is proud of its reputation for leadership in the bridge engineering field and of its recognition by receiving several major awards for unique and challenging bridge designs.Your ImpactCarry out preliminary and detailed analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures for all levels of governmentManage bridge engineering projects, coordinate design teams, and support project management teams and technical teams across WSPPrepare engineering drawingsCheck designs and drawingsPrepare specifications and contract documentsPrepare forms of tender, quantity take-offs and construction cost estimatesReview shop drawings and provide engineering support during constructionCarry out contract administration and construction supervisionPrepare reports and proposalsUndertake bridge inspections, assessments, and reportsSet up project meetings, record meeting minutes, and maintain action item listMay be required to provide technical guidance and direction to support staff, contractors, and/or vendorsThe Skills That Set You ApartUniversity degree in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer with 5-10 years demonstrated experience in structural design and bridge engineering in CanadaSuperior technical understanding, design abilities, and current on bridge technologiesWorking knowledge of structural analysis software used in bridge designSpecific areas of expertise required are in the planning, preliminary and detail design, and construction of bridges of standard and complex geometry, and culverts.
