Position Overview:

We are seeking an extraordinary and experienced education assistant to join the Learning Support team at St. George’s Senior School on a contract basis from August 2026 to June 2027, with the possibility of extension. This is a 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week) opportunity during the contract period, with a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday schedule. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of our Senior School students. The ideal candidate for this position is a high-energy, certified Education Assistant who brings a brilliant blend of academic support and emotional intelligence to the Senior School team. With 1 to 3 years of experience navigating neurodiverse learning needs (such as ADHD and ASD), you are deeply adept at translating IEPs into practical classroom successes. You are a natural collaborator who can effortlessly sync with teachers while keeping a meticulous eye on student documentation. You understand the nuances of how young men learn, balancing structured executive functioning coaching with an inquiry-based mindset. Enthusiastic, adaptable, and deeply committed, you don't just work in a classroom, you actively immerse yourself in the vibrant, diverse life of the whole school community. Key Responsibilities:

• Work in collaboration with classroom teachers and Learning Support team colleagues to organize various resources and support programs for individual students. 
• Support individual learners and small groups of students who require additional attention to navigate the school day (e.g. in areas including social, emotional, executive functioning and academic support).
• Assist individual students as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs), following guidance from their classroom and learning support teacher(s).
• Work in collaboration with teachers to organize support and strategies in response to individual student needs.
• Provide clear and detailed documentation of student progress and behaviour as a means to determine triggers, patterns and effective interventions.
• Be part of regular meetings about student learning.
• Participate in our after-school student support program.
• Invigilate students writing assessments.
• Support the creation of an inquiry-based learning environment.
• Support school events. 
• Participate in the school Advisory Program and Co-Curricular Program, on a voluntary basis, if you are interested. 

Qualifications:

• Education Assistant Certificate/Diploma or equivalent is required. 
• 1-3 years’ previous experience working with secondary students in an educational setting. 
• Experience supporting a range of learning needs (e.g. ADHD, ASD) informed by research and best practice in an inclusive classroom setting.
• Experience documenting student behaviour and progress.
• Experience supporting secondary school subjects such as English, Science, Humanities, and Mathematics (preferred).
• Strong commitment to student learning and success; being able to understand the needs of students while engaging them as active learners in the classroom.
• Awareness of the learning styles of boys.
• Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, and highly organized, with good attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong time management and executive functioning skills.
• Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the diverse life of the school community.
• Dynamic and energetic, with a desire to work in a highly focused environment. 
• Superior EQ skills in self-awareness, self-management, social agility, impact and influence.
