Community Relations Coordinator

Position: Special Events & Community Relations Coordinator

Location: Niagara Region

Position Type: Contract, 35 Hours per week, 8 weeks (June/July)

Position Summary

The Community Relations & Events Coordinator will serve as a key ambassador for the Niagara River Lions, representing the organization at community events, school activations, sponsor functions, and game-day initiatives. This role is focused on building meaningful relationships within the Niagara region, increasing brand visibility, and enhancing the overall presence of the team in the community.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, and passionate about community engagement, sports, and relationship-building.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the Niagara River Lions at community events, appearances, and promotional activations
• Coordinate and attend school visits, youth programs, and grassroots basketball initiatives
• Support game-day community activations and in-game promotional elements
• Assist with planning and execution of community outreach programs, partnerships and events
• Act as a liaison between the organization and community partners, schools, and local organizations
• Help distribute promotional materials and support marketing initiatives in the community
• Maintain strong relationships with fans, partners, and community stakeholders
• Track and report on community engagement activities and event participation
• Provide general support to the marketing and game operations teams as needed

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Outgoing, professional, and comfortable engaging with the public
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and game days as required
• Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Interest in sports, community development, or event marketing considered an asset

Assets (Nice to Have)

• Experience in community engagement, marketing, event coordination, or sports environment
• Knowledge of the Niagara region community and schools
• Social media or content creation experience
