Alo Restaurant (Fine Dining) is hiring an experienced Server Assistant

Alo Restaurant is hiring a full time Server Assistant to join our team. Alo is a fine dining restaurant that specialises in serving seasonal blind tasting menus. Server Assistants are responsible for running food to tables and explaining dishes to guests which require strong communication and knowledge of international ingredients with a particular focus on French and Japanese fine dining. Strong candidates in this role have experience working in a tasting menu environment or fine dining restaurants. 

Alo is open for dinner service from Tuesday to Saturday. The shift start time for Server Assistants begins in the mid-afternoon. Availability to work from 3pm onwards is necessary for this role.

Assistant Servers are to provide a tidy restaurant space, ensure tables are free of debris and plates & glassware are cleared in a swift, timely fashion. Assistant Servers work quickly and deliberately while always maintaining a calm demeanor. They run food and should be available for the kitchen at all times. Assistant Servers may be required to take payment occasionally, and must be comfortable doing so. Assistant Servers never show signs of distress, and are professional, gracious and genuine at all times. The following duties are expected of Assistant Servers at Alobar:

• Ensuring proper linen is stocked for the dining room, kitchen, and washrooms
• Providing guests with accurate and detailed descriptions of dishes, sharing information on ingredients with confidence
• Maintaining cleanliness of tables during a guests' dining experience including bussing all items that are no longer required by the guest and crumbing between courses
• Settings tables with mise en place accurate to the needs of the guest
• Assisting with polishing and keeping dish pit area clean
• Removing garbage and recycling
• Cleaning and restocking washrooms
• Assisting servers in clearing, crumbing & re-setting tables
• Completing cleaning duties along with servers to ensure proper cleanliness of dining room and staff area
• Ensuring all areas of the dining room are neatly organized during service
• Ensuring service stations are well stocked
• Ensuring guests’ water choices are served and topped up in a timely manner
• Assisting the bar team in restocking coffee and tea offerings
• Ensuring menu knowledge is up to date, and being able to describe dishes to guests as their dinner is served to them

Assistant Servers at Alo Food Group may be assigned to a specific section, or assigned the priority of running food. Regardless of which an employee is assigned, they are anticipated to be able to assist with all responsibilities nightly.
