Hardware Project Lead

Are you an experienced Hardware Project lead with a deep understanding of budgeting and designing? We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project lead to lead a team of hardware designers in a role of Hardware Work-Package Manager and deliver on all project requirements for hardware deliverables within allocated budget, schedule, and scope, while maintaining the highest level of quality. To design new or revise existing hardware products, equipment, and installations, utilizing processes based on established engineering process, applying engineering design best-practices, principles, and design methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Plan group activities on one or multiple projects using appropriate management tools to define and schedule tasks.
• Verify all assigned work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
• Ensure quality and integrity of hardware designs and related documentation, conduct technical reviews, and ensure changes align with objectives.
• Maintain project schedule, budget, and requirements; revise plans and forecasts as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks such as approving timesheets and vacation requests; assist with staff selection, appraisal, and evaluation as required.
• Carry out assigned work efficiently with minimal supervision, in accordance with company and departmental standards.
• Present effective solutions to problems or inefficiencies in departmental operations.
• Make timely decisions both independently and in concert with others after thorough evaluation of relevant factors.
• Track progress on all assigned tasks and verify completion accuracy.
• Ensure safety and quality of hardware products while reducing deployment costs; promote reuse and improve hardware quality.
• Prepare specifications for hardware and/or software components or devices.
• Interpret, identify, and document requirements so customer needs are met within budget and schedule constraints.
• Develop appropriate design architecture.
• Review applicable specifications, standards, and rules; ensure appropriate actions are taken.
• Implement designs using good design practice and applicable standards and guidelines.
• Reuse existing designs efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience
  • 10+ years in industry, including cabling, grounding techniques, surge protection.
  • Proven track record in designing complex electrical or electronic products.
• Electrical Engineering Principles
  • Power circuits design.
  • Electronic circuits including microprocessors.
  • Telecommunications circuits.
• Engineering Tools
  • CAD systems (AutoCAD).
  • Multimeter.
  • Oscilloscope.
  • Protocol analyzers.
• Communication & Documentation
  • Well-developed verbal skills for clear communication without ambiguity.
  • Well-developed writing skills for concise documentation.
  • Ability to follow directions and work instructions and use good judgement.
  • Ability to effectively present pros and cons for various courses of action.
• Technical Proficiency
  • Proficient in current technologies of the discipline.
• Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Railway Signalling industry.
  • Track record of designing, installing, and testing communication-based train control on-board equipment.
  • Experience in developing new designs and running tests to verify functionality and solve problems.
  • Excellent understanding of train interfaces, operations, maintenance, components, sub-systems, and various train designs from different manufacturers.
  • Ability to read and design train interface electrical schematics.
  • Deep understanding of CENELEC and AREMA railway standards regarding on-board equipment.
  • Experience performing train surveys.
  • Ability to support bids by defining technical solutions and reviewing the materials list.
  • Certification: PEO.
