The Opportunity
Terra is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mandarin Language Teacher to join our Early Learning Department. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the Mandarin Language Teacher, and will be responsible for providing a positive and engaging learning experience for early learners.

The Role
As a Mandarin Language Teacher, you will:
- Create, plan, and organize daily instruction for Mandarin: listening, writing, speaking, and singing for children ages 2.5 to 5 years.
- Provide learning experiences and opportunities to our young children, with a commitment to uphold our mission and vision towards sustainable living.
- Develop a strong understanding of Terra's school culture, and what sets us apart from other early learning centres.
- Establish loving, positive, safe and secure relationships with the children.
- Nurture to children's individual physical, social-emotional, and mental wellness needs.
- Connect and engage in collaborative partnerships with fellow educators, colleagues, leaders, families, and the greater community when necessary.
- Plan, implement, and organize a Mandarin Language program in-line with Terra Early Learning's curriculum.
- Provide age-appropriate activities to support the development of children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical growth.
- Document children's learning progress and communicate with families/caregivers and colleagues regarding children's development and progress.
The Qualifications
As a Mandarin Language Teacher, you have:
- A clear Criminal Record Check
- A valid Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR/AED Level B Certification
- A valid Early Childhood Certification and Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Canadian citizenship and/or legally permitted to work in Canada
- Strong communication skills; spoken and written in English
- Native or near-native proficiency in the Mandarin language
- Experience in teaching Mandarin to young children
- A high level of responsibility and accountability
- A commitment to learn, apply, champion, and embody Terra's Values and Mission
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Have a passion for building and maintaining relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- A growth mindset, recognizing opportunities for learning and growth daily
- Experience, knowledge in education for sustainable development is an asset
- Ability to thrive in a creation, growth-stage environment
Commitment
- 10 to 15 hours per month
- Weekly shifts between Monday to Friday
- Estimated start of position in early 2024
- Permanent
