Hawksworth Group's newest addition, Nightingale , centrally located downtown, is currently looking for an organized, motivated and experienced Receiver / Production Cook to join our team of industry professionals!
Celebrating the here and now, Nightingale delivers fresh and vibrant modern Canadian cuisine that's designed for the way people want to eat today, vegetable and grain-centric with pasta, pizzas and creative proteins to share.
This is an important role within our kitchen team, responsible for ensuring that product is received, organized and stored properly, while also supporting the kitchen with daily production and preparation.
Who You Are:
- You have professional kitchen experience and a strong understanding of food handling and preparation
- You are organized, reliable and take pride in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen
- You have excellent attention to detail and understand the importance of proper receiving, storage and rotation
- You enjoy working with premium, local ingredients
- You are a team player and a great communicator
- You can work independently while supporting the needs of the kitchen team
- You have a positive attitude and enjoy working in a busy, high-volume restaurant
- Previous receiving, inventory or production experience is an asset
Job Duties:
- Receive all food, beverage and kitchen deliveries, ensuring products meet quality and quantity standards
- Check deliveries against invoices and report any discrepancies or quality concerns
- Properly label, date, rotate and store all products according to food safety standards
- Maintain organized and clean walk-in refrigerators, freezers and dry storage areas
- Assist with daily kitchen production, including preparation of sauces, stocks, vegetables, proteins and other menu components
- Follow recipes, production lists and preparation specifications
- Maintain accurate organization and rotation of inventory using FIFO practices
- Communicate product shortages, quality concerns and inventory needs to the Chef Team
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment
- Follow all health, safety and sanitation standards
