Senior Business Analyst

Allshores is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to play a pivotal role as a trusted partner to business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors. In this role, you will help drive strategic initiatives that deliver meaningful impact across a complex, multi-jurisdiction and multi-product insurance environment.

The Senior Business Analyst will be at the center of enterprise transformation, translating business needs into innovative solutions that enhance operations, improve customer experiences, and support organizational growth. You'll collaborate with diverse stakeholders, lead requirements discovery and analysis, and contribute to the successful delivery of cross-functional projects from concept through implementation.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Business Analysis Planning

• Develop business analysis plans for assigned initiatives, encompassing approach, stakeholder engagement strategy, deliverable schedule, and quality measures, selecting and adapting the appropriate methodology whether predictive, adaptive, or hybrid.
• Collaborate with project managers and business managers/sponsors to determine initiative scope, vision, and success criteria, identifying and documenting assumptions, constraints, and dependencies at the outset of each initiative.

Elicitation and Collaboration

• Plan and conduct elicitation activities including structured workshops, interviews, surveys, job shadowing, and process observation across business and technology stakeholder groups spanning multiple jurisdictions and time zones.
• Build and maintain productive working relationships with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors and consultants, identifying regulatory and jurisdictional considerations relevant to assigned initiatives.
• Manage stakeholder expectations, facilitate decision-making, identify conflicts, and drive consensus among diverse business and technology groups.

Requirements Life Cycle Management

• Manage the full requirements lifecycle from initial elicitation through post-implementation validation, maintaining traceability through a requirements traceability matrix linking business needs through specifications to test cases and delivered solutions.
• Manage requirements change control processes, assessing the impact of proposed changes on scope, schedule, cost, and risk, and communicating changes clearly and promptly to all relevant stakeholders.

Analysis and Documentation

• Produce clear, complete, and well-structured requirements documentation including Business Requirements Documents, Functional Specifications, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria, translating business needs into specifications comprehensible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop process models, workflow diagrams, data flow diagrams, wireframes, and mockups using recognized modelling notation to communicate and validate solution design, verifying requirements for completeness, consistency, and feasibility.
• Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, support decision-making, validate requirements, and assess solution outcomes.

Strategy and Solution Assessment

• Contribute to current-state and future-state assessments, gap analyses, and business case development, supporting the evaluation and selection of third-party software packages through participation in RFI and RFP processes.
• Lead or participate in User Acceptance Testing activities, assessing benefits delivered by solutions, and contributing to post-implementation reviews.

Experience, Technical Expertise & Skills:

• Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education, professional certification, and demonstrated experience will be considered.
• 8+ years of progressive business analysis experience, with demonstrated growth in the complexity and independence of work performed.
• Periodic travel will be required.
• Experience in the insurance or pension services industry, with working knowledge of insurance and/or pension products, operations, and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage requirements on complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders across business and technology functions.
• Experience working with both predictive and adaptive delivery methodologies.
• Experience working with distributed teams across multiple jurisdictions, locations and time zones.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data modelling and analysis concepts.
• Understanding of end-to-end system landscapes spanning user interfaces, middleware, databases, and infrastructure.
• Experience with vendor-delivered software implementations.
• Familiarity with insurance, banking or financial services business architecture frameworks (such as ACORD), considered an asset.
• Experience supporting post-merger implementations considered an asset
• Familiarity with reporting tools, including MS Power Platform and Power BI, considered an asset.
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments, Azure DevOps, or Microsoft Azure considered an asset.
• Knowledge of IFRS17 and operational and systems implications for insurance carriers considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability working in multiple regulatory jurisdictions simultaneously considered a strong asset.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executive and senior leadership stakeholders considered an asset.
• Demonstrated contributions to (or establishing) BA practice frameworks, standards or CoE functions an asset.
• Professional certifications in business analysis, project management, or agile delivery are recognized assets.
