About Our Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Manager, Service Excellence, as the Business Analyst/Change Coordinator you’ll provide support to the IT Change Management Team in the coordination and management of the change management process, perform complex analytical and technical work in the areas of business process assessment, modification and planning for departmental program/business units in addressing fundamental business problems having both long term and short-term effects.  This requires taking a leadership role in defining solutions and assisting with the implementation of strategic business process improvement initiatives to realize program and operational savings, improved client service and attainment of strategic goals.

You’ll provide leadership in the analysis of business processes and information systems as business requirements change to ensure effective business process and service delivery.  You will also act as a liaison between and cross IT organization teams to ensure infrastructure services meet defined technology solutions and business needs, while supporting existing technology standards and helping to establish new ones. 

Primary Accountabilities

 

• Ensure smooth operation of IT Change Management - Analyze Change Records to determine any trends/problems/improvements what contributes to the development and improvements of corporate standards  
• Provide support and coordination to the IT Change Management process.
• Assist IT Change Management in reporting, change schedules and Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, when required, ensuring the communication occurs with all stakeholders
• Conduct and document analysis for diverse, short and long-term projects and enhancements related to the Department’s business and strategic goals.  This includes assessment of the current situation and business requirements, development of solution recommendations, opportunity evaluation, development of business cases and cost analysis.  Solutions may be business, process, technology and/or service oriented.
• Plan, facilitate and lead workshops with internal and external participants and facilitate decision making with the business, departmental management, and external vendors (where appropriate).
• Lead and complete the preparation and documentation of business requirements, business process definitions, workflow processes and data models, system specifications, and implementation plans.
• Present complex options with a solution recommendation to clients.
• Ensure effective communication where agreement or cooperation is required or where there are barriers to understanding.  Establish and manage competing priorities and identify opportunities for cross-departmental or corporate initiatives.
• Chair stakeholder and team meetings, coach and mentor team members, and monitor tasks and quality of work.  Delegate and coordinate work with other teams across departments.
• Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and act as a liaison for clients in the resolution of IT technology and service-related problems.
• Prepare and deliver progress reports.
• Participate in departmental committees and working groups.
• Determine and manage client expectations.
• Maintain current awareness and knowledge of new software, best practices, standards, and methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

 

As the successful candidate, you will have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program plus 3 years and 6 months of experience (or the equivalent combination of training and experience).  

You will also have knowledge and understanding of the following:

 

• Knowledge and experience with IT Change Management.
• Business standards and processes.
• Established IT strategies, policies and procedures and link these with customer requirements.
• Office automation software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and collaboration software to write business cases, create reports and spreadsheets.
• Ability to solve problems, make decisions and/or recommendations
• Analytical skills to convert business requirements into business cases.
• Ability to interview, facilitate working groups and develop strong relationships

The ability to weigh alternatives, use judgment and make decisions.  Experience with team consensus building and conducting and presenting meetings and workshops.

Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are required as well as demonstrated ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, peers, and management.  The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable to ever changing priorities.

Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) would be considered an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: Written examination, standardized test, oral presentation, interview (s) and reference check.

Pay Grade:PR 14  

Salary Range:  $2,912.93 - $3,547.06 Bi-Weekly
