Financial Analyst - Mental Health & Addictions

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager – Financial Services, the Financial Analyst – Mental Health & Addictions (MH&A) is responsible for supporting the MH&A portfolio through statistical data analysis, financial reporting, and alignment with Ministry and internal financial standards.  The role focuses on streamlining financial and statistical reporting, ensuring data integrity, and contributing to operational improvements within the portfolio.

Key responsibilities of the position include the following:

• Manages financial and statistical reporting for the MH&A and N’doo’owe Binesi portfolios, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organizational and Ontario Health standards.
• Prepares and analyzes budgets, forecasts, variance reports, utilization data, journal entries, specialized reports, and funding submissions.
• Monitors financial performance, service utilization, trends, and performance targets, providing recommendations to support resource management and operational improvement.
• Presents financial and statistical information to leadership and collaborates with Ontario Health, program teams, and partner organizations to meet reporting and funding requirements.
• Supports audits, funding proposals, special projects, digital health initiatives, and financial reporting systems, including cross-coverage within Financial Services.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in financial analysis, data reporting, or budgeting, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

Skills/Abilities:

• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, to effectively collaborate with various partners
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently, with excellent project and time management skills
• High-level analytical and critical thinking abilities with attention to detail and accuracy in data reporting and financial analysis
• Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel) with intermediate skills in word processing and data entry.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets:

• Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) and Ministry financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with Virtuo accounting software, Infomed, Meditech and other healthcare-related financial and statistical reporting systems.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
