Job Responsibilities and Developmental Tasks:

The successful candidate for this position will be a member of the Customer Field Services Unit reporting to the Supervisor, Customer Field Services, and responsible to coordinate, implement and oversee all aspects of the HTO TO GO Water Trailer and Public Outreach program.

Major Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinates the safe delivery of special events to the public.
• Receives and evaluates event applications based on program criteria.
• Liaises with applicants/special interest groups, other units and/or divisions when coordinating events.
• Co-ordinates and schedules events and staff.
• Trains, instructs and guides work of staff.
• Operates various office equipment to input, update and maintain schedules, event information, correspondence and related databases.
• Checks event locations to determine site feasibility and determine equipment requirements. Ensures the location, equipment and supplies meet health and safety and legislative standards and completes required inspections.
• Ensures materials, equipment and supplies are available, clean and in safe working order.
• Requisitions supplies and maintains inventory.
• Co-ordinates requests, maintenance, inspection, cleaning and repair of equipment.
• Delivers, sets up and disassembles displays/equipment.
• Completes reports and statistical information related to events.
• Makes recommendations regarding event coordination, policies and procedures.

Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

1. Experience in coordinating and scheduling tasks and staff at various outdoor work locations (including events).
2. Demonstrated customer service experience, including experience in dealing with public.
3. Experience in the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and specialized equipment and materials related to the duties of this position. Ability to make minor mechanical repairs to equipment which may include use of hand or power tools.
4. Experience inspecting and ensuring work locations, equipment and supplies meet health and safety as well as legislative standards.
5. Experience with providing work direction and training to others and overseeing work performed by staff and contractors.
6. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class "G" Driver's Licence and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements (i.e. cube van, trailers under 4600 kg and pickup truck) within City specified timeframe according to the standards established by the City of Toronto's Fleet Services Division.
7. High degree of proficiency with electronic spreadsheets, word processing, presentation and e-mail software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database applications.

• Must be able to work shifts, weekends, and overtime (including on-call) as may be required at various locations.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to deal courteously with the public and staff and solve problem situations, taking appropriate action.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate and concise operation reports and emails to clients.
• Ability to set up/dismantle water trailer, tent, and display materials.
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
• Must be physically capable of performing required duties, including ability to lift and carry up to 40 lb.
• Ability to make minor mechanical repairs to equipment which may include use of hand or power tools.
