We're looking for a Content Director to step in and keep building our content effort at Super Proper. It's a chance to lead, shape, and grow how some of the most exciting brands in North America show up. You'll help us define what great content means in the age of AI and algorithms, learn to be fluent across social, CRM & Loyalty and Performance, and set the strategic direction that our clients and our studio rally behind.
You think about social as a brand behaviour, not just a content output. You can answer "what should this brand be on social?" before anyone asks "what should we post this week?". You follow the thinkers, the platform shifts, and the cultural undercurrents that signal where online content is headed next and can translate that instinct into strategy clients can act on.
Super Proper is a multi-disciplinary advertising studio uniting creative, insight, and performance experts under one roof. Launched in November 2024, we're already working with Audi, Kicking Horse Coffee, Johnson & Johnson, Planet Fitness, FanDuel, UFC & WWE and more across US and Canadian markets. At your disposal is a 30 person studio – writers, designers, video editors, motion artists, photographers, content creators, and social strategists – ready to bring your strategic vision to life.
You’ll hold a high creative bar, push for work that earns attention rather than just impressions, and understand how content connects to the wider ecosystem, ready to define how brands build audiences and get talked about in real life.
What you'll do
- Define how brands show up, not just what they post : develop social and content strategies that treat social as a brand behaviour. You answer the big questions – who should this brand be, how should it act, what space should it own – before getting to weekly content.
- Stay ahead of the strategic curve : follow the thinkers, platform shifts, and cultural undercurrents that signal where social is going next. Your recommendations reflect where audiences are heading, not where the last big case study landed.
- Translate cultural instinct into strategy : spot shifts in how people use platforms, formats, and community spaces, and turn those observations into concrete recommendations clients can act on.
- Push for work that earns attention : hold a high creative bar. Articulate the difference between content that fills a calendar and content that stops a scroll, builds an audience, or sparks conversation. Champion ideas that breakthrough.
- Build and present content frameworks : develop social strategies, annual plans, brand positioning, and content frameworks – as well as present them with clarity and conviction to senior client stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor the content team : guide social strategists, content creators, and community managers. Set the standard for thinking, craft, and ambition across the team.
Connect content to the wider ecosystem : collaborate with CRM & Loyalty and Performance media teams to ensure content strategy works as part of an integrated whole and not in a silo. - Be a strategic partner to clients : act as a trusted advisor on all things social and content. Bring proactive thinking, fresh perspective, and a point of view that earns trust and grows relationships.
- Champion AI and innovation : understand how AI is reshaping content creation, distribution, and strategy. Bring an optimistic, experimental mindset and help the team navigate what these tools mean for the work.
What you bring
- 8-10+ years of experience in social and content at an agency, with a track record of leading strategy for ambitious brands.
- Strong strategic thinking : you think in terms of brand behaviour, audience, and cultural relevance – not just content volume. You can zoom out to brand positioning and zoom in to platform-specific execution.
- Framework and planning expertise : proven ability to build and present social and content frameworks, annual plans, and brand positioning that clients buy into and teams can execute against.
- Deep social fluency : in-depth knowledge of platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging spaces), formats, algorithms, and the cultural dynamics that shape what works.
- Cultural radar : you're plugged into where culture and platforms are heading. You follow the right thinkers, spot shifts early, and translate them into actionable strategy.
- A high creative bar : you know the difference between content that performs and content that matters. You push for work that earns attention and gets talked about.
- Presentation and communication skills : confident presenting strategy to senior stakeholders, defending recommendations, and rallying teams around a vision.
- Ecosystem curiosity : interest in how content connects to CRM, loyalty, and performance media. You see social as part of a bigger picture, not an isolated channel.
- AI optimism : genuine interest in how AI and emerging tools are transforming content. You're excited by the opportunity, not threatened by the change.
- Leadership presence : able to step into an existing team and existing client relationships, build trust quickly, and provide steady, confident direction from day one.
