Creative Director
Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation (CSMC)
Work Location: Toronto, ON (on-site 5 days/week)
Responsibilities
- Lead CSMC’s marketing and communications function, setting the creative direction while remaining deeply hands‑on in producing high‑quality materials.
- Translate complex engineering, nuclear, defence, and space concepts into clear, compelling narratives for government, partners, investors, and the public.
- Develop and maintain CSMC’s visual identity across all channels, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with mission and sovereign‑capability messaging.
- Create technical and non‑technical content including presentations, reports, infographics, animations, web copy, social media content, and branded collateral.
- Produce graphic design assets using modern tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.) and oversee multimedia development including video, photography, and motion graphics.
- Support PR and external communications, including press releases, media packages, announcements, and stakeholder‑facing materials.
- Partner closely with engineering, business development, and leadership teams to support proposals, RFPs, regulatory submissions, and strategic communications.
- Manage CSMC’s digital presence, including website content, social media strategy, and targeted campaigns.
- Ensure all communications comply with security, controlled‑goods, and export‑control requirements.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to building a high‑performance creative and communications capability within CSMC.
- Operate with a builder mindset — comfortable in ambiguity, proactive in execution, and motivated by mission‑driven impact.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, creative direction, or visual design, ideally in technical, scientific, or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience guiding creative strategy while remaining hands‑on in execution.
- Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with modern design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, or equivalent).
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Experience producing multimedia content (presentations, infographics, animations, video scripts, technical visuals).
- Familiarity with PR, media engagement, and external communications best practices.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, leadership, and external partners in a fast‑moving, mission‑driven environment.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in defence, aerospace, nuclear, or other technical sectors is an asset but not required.

Eligibility
CSMC works with highly sensitive nuclear, defence, and aerospace technologies, and all roles require eligibility for federal security screening and compliance with controlled goods and export regulations. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearance, and eligible to meet foreign affiliation and export control requirements. These conditions are mandatory Bona Fide Occupational Requirements and reflect the need to securely develop and protect nationally significant capabilities.
