Your new role  

Our client is seeking an experienced Insurance Defence Legal Assistant to support a busy insurance litigation practice. Working closely with an equity partner and their team, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day management of files from opening through to close.

This is a highly administrative position suited to someone who is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment. You will be responsible for preparing and managing pleadings, correspondence, affidavits, motion records, mediation memoranda, and other litigation documents. You will also coordinate service and filing, maintain electronic document systems, assist with billing and docketing, prepare cheque requisitions, and ensure files progress efficiently through all stages of litigation. Experience with document management platforms such as Case Center and electronic court filing systems will be highly valued.

What you'll need to succeed  

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring:

• A minimum of 3 years of insurance defence legal assistant experience. 
• Strong knowledge of Ontario civil litigation procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure. 
• Experience preparing and managing litigation documents, including pleadings, Affidavits of Documents, Motion Records, and mediation materials.
• Proven ability to manage files independently from opening through closing.
• Experience coordinating discoveries, court appearances, mediations, and litigation schedules. 
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under competing deadlines. 
• Strong technical proficiency, including experience working with electronic document management systems and Microsoft Office.
