Nanny Wanted - Seeking Calm, Neurodivergent Aware Wednesday Childcare — (Supervising And Meals) For 2 Kids In Barrhaven, Ottawa. $22/Hour

I'm a single mom of two amazing kids — a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old — who are both neurodivergent (twice-exceptional, or 2e). We are a warm, household that recently relocated to Canada, and I'm looking for someone who gets it. We are in Barrhaven, Ottawa. South of the Greenbelt, bounded by Highway 416 and the Jock River. My kids are self-aware and pretty independent. For now, they attend a virtual school for 2e kids, so most of the day they'll be engaged with their teacher and classmates in interactive sessions. They don't need entertainment or structured activities — what they need is a calm, reliable presence who can keep things running smoothly while I'm working. Think: making sure they eat, helping them navigate the day if something comes up, and just being there. What I'm looking for:

• Someone comfortable with and ideally knowledgeable about neurodivergence — my kids are wonderful but they experience the world differently, and I want someone who meets them where they are without judgment and with emotional awareness
• A calm, grounded presence — no need for high energy, just steady and reliable
• Comfortable with our golden retriever, who may be home as well (usually at doggy daycare)
• Available on Wednesdays, roughly 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (with some flexibility as schedules settle and hours may increase). Also, once a month, a weekday, I have to go to the practice and do evening hours (home before 8 though).

About us: I'm a psychotherapist originally from Spain and Puerto Rico, who relocated to the US in my 20's for university. Got married and had my kids. However, we've now made the move to Canada as a family — it's where our values feel most at home. My kids are thoughtful, funny, and genuinely a joy to be around. They're neurodivergent, which means they experience the world a little differently — but that's a feature, not a challenge. They're independent, self-directed, self aware, and have a great sense of humour and justice (hence the relocation). They also love connecting — don't be surprised if they invite you to join a Mario Kart session. What matters most is someone who respects their autonomy and meets them where they are.
