Work setting Installation Maintenance On-site customer service Testing Repair Service Responsibilities: Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment Diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment Inspect operation of telecommunications equipment Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, wiring and associated hardware Repair or replace defective telephone equipment Test installed telephone systems to locate transmission faults Complete and maintain test and service reports Determine nature, cause and Location of trouble Install electromechanical, analog and digital trunking systems, circuits and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centres Instruct apprentices Operate computerized testing systems to conduct service tests on customer lines and equipment Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets Determine work assignments Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers Experience and specialization Computer and technology knowledge Telephone system Telecommunication system Additional information Work conditions and physical capabilities Fast-paced environment Tight deadlines Attention to detail Ability to distinguish between colours Combination of sitting, standing, walking Personal suitability Leadership Client focus Efficient interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Flexibility Organized Reliability Team player Accurate Benefits Other benefits Free parking available Until: 2026-04-07
