Bar Manager for new West Vancouver restaurant

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Bar Manager to help open our new restaurant, Navvy House, in West Vancouver. Working closely with our GM, AGM, and Ops Team, you will help build the bar program and team ahead of opening this fall, then oversee daily bar operations once we launch. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be part of a new restaurant from the start, with a focus on a strong drink program and a well run bar.

Duties

• Assist the team with pre-opening setup, including bar program development, staffing plans, and service standards.

• Assist in developing and manage the cocktail, wine, and beverage program, including seasonal updates.

• Recruit, hire, and train bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks.

• Lead the bar during service, ensuring guests receive attentive, consistent hospitality.

• Manage daily opening and closing procedures.

• Oversee inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships for beverage supplies.

• Manage bar costs and pricing to support both quality and profitability.

• Address guest feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.

• Collaborate with the kitchen and floor teams to ensure smooth, seamless service.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, liquor licensing, and company policies.

• Conduct regular staff check ins and training to maintain service standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.

• Experience with restaurant or bar openings is an asset.

• Strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, and beverage trends.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Proven ability to deliver exceptional guest service.

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and liquor licensing requirements.

• Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and cost control.
