Junior Draftsperson

Job Responsibility: DECAST is leading the Canadian infrastructure market, including water transmission, bridges, storm and sanitary, tunneling and engineered precast products. With over 650 employees in two facilities, DECAST's state-of-the art manufacturing facility is one of the most technologically advanced in the world with the most extensive product line portfolio in the industry. Since 1989, the company has continually expanded, adding new products, and entering new markets. Today, DECAST is the largest manufacturing facility for infrastructure products in Canada. We are looking for a Junior Draftsperson to join our new product development team in Stouffville, ON. The Jr. Draftsperson is responsible for supporting the team with company projects. Assist in the development of templates and layouts for new and exciting products to get better market adoption. Create production drawings of precast concrete components. This is a full time/ permanent role. Not remote. Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans and specifications
• Create drawings for production and approval for manufacturing of precast concrete components
• Create layout drawings consisting of multiple components (including, but not limited to, retaining walls and underground stormwater management facilities)
• Develop standard drawings and templates by working closely with a design engineer and external engineering consultants. Maintain template and standard drawing library and update as required
• Draft utilizing AutoCAD design software
• Work closely with the engineering department in providing alternate designs for the manufacture of precast concrete components in the replacement of poured-in place products
• Provide technical support for Sales Department through the creation of structure layouts for quoting purposes
• Maintain good communication between DECAST Ltd. departments and plant fabrication
• Provide ongoing support to plant fabrication staff by optimizing design of components

Skills, Education & Experience

• Civil/Architectural Engineering Diploma, or drafting experience
• Engineering design software-AutoCAD. AutoCAD 3D experience is considered an asset
• Microsoft Office programs specifically Word and Excel
• Working knowledge of mechanical equipment required for concrete products and systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and work with minimal supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
