Position Overview
Are you passionate about keeping a city moving? As a temporary, full-time Fleet Services Planner – Training Opportunity , you’ll play a key role in ensuring our fleet is running at peak performance! You’ll coordinate, plan, and oversee essential vehicle and equipment maintenance within the City of Kamloops. This is your chance to use your expertise in fleet management, scheduling, and data analysis to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

1. Working towards the completion of a post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, or a related discipline, which includes at least two accounting courses, within two (2) years.
2. Minimum three years’ previous experience in preventative maintenance scheduling in an automotive, commercial transport or heavy-duty mechanic shop.
3. Ability to complete Automotive Service Advisor course from an accredited institution within six (6) months.   
4. Minimum six (6) months previous relevant related experience in water treatment. Must be currently working at a Class III or IV water treatment facility. 
5. Proficient in advanced Word, advanced Excel, and basic Access as demonstrated through testing. (70% pass rate required)
6. Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Please note this position is posted along side the fully qualified Fleet Services Planner (Temporary, Full-Time) – 2038 position. Our preference is to hire a fully qualified candidate, however if no candidates are deemed fully qualified we may hire from this training opportunity. Please note this is a temporary posting until approximately October 17, 2027 or return of incumbent.

Awarding of Training Opportunity:
To be successful for this training opportunity, applicants must meet the above requirements. Applicants are able to participate in a maximum of three training opportunities within the Department.

On-the-Job Experience and Training:
The successful candidate for this opportunity will be gaining experience towards becoming a fully qualified Fleet Services Planner. The exact length of the training opportunity may vary based on the previous experience of the successful candidate but will be a maximum of the temporary position offered.

Pay Rate:
The successful applicant for this training opportunity will receive the pay rate of Pay Grade 9 (Inside), $39.243 per hour to start. After successful completion of an Automotive Service Advisor course from an accredited institution the incumbent will receive the pay rate of Pay Grade 10 (Inside). After successful completion of the Training Opportunity and achievement of an Automotive Service Advisor course from an accredited institution and post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, or a related discipline, including a minimum of two accounting courses, the incumbent will move to a Pay Grade 11 (inside), as a fully qualified Fleet Services Planner. 

Probationary Period:
The probationary period for this position will be 6 months. 

Hourly Rate
$39.243

Hours & Days of Work
Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
This position is being hired under a modified schedule with an extra day off every third week.
