French Immersion Coordinator

Teachers actively work on teacher learning teams using collaborative models of support to co-plan, co-teach and co-assess in an inclusive setting, using invisible interventions. Additionally, teachers mentor students, over time, in reflecting on where their personal interests and strengths overlap with emerging career-life opportunities in the world.

All teachers must be prepared to use a variety of technology for planning, attendance monitoring, communicating classroom instruction and reporting, and be prepared to support the School Improvement Plan and District goals through Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing and the Four Blankets of Resilience.

Necessary Qualifications

• possession of a valid B.C. Teaching Certificate;
• university training, or its equivalent, relevant to the posted position; and,
• successful teaching experience relevant to the posted position.

0.40 F.T.E. Term, September 8, 2026, to June 30, 2027

DISTRICT

The successful candidate must:

• demonstrate a high degree of

  knowledge in the integration of play-based learning within the BC Primary and intermediate Curriculum;

• demonstrate ability to work

  collaboratively with Indigenous rights holders and implement Indigenous

  pedagogy through Indigenous ways of knowing and being;

• have excellent French Language Skills;
• have five years successful teaching experience in French Immersion;
• have proven skills in teaching grades K to 12; and,
• possess a BC Driver’s license and be able to travel to all communities in the district.

Reporting to Associate

Superintendent, the candidate will be a member of the

Instructional Leadership team and the primary objectives will be to:

• lead classroom teachers in the areas of personalized learning and curricular design and assessment;
• lead a mentorship structure to support new and

  experienced French Immersion Teachers;

• coordinate and organize

  district professional learning opportunities;

• support the primacy of the

  classroom environment and increase the capacity to support all learners in

  the classroom;

• demonstrate leadership and support student personalized learning with

  classroom teachers

• improve the outcomes for vulnerable children;
• contribute to

  the development and implementation

  of the K to 12 Assessment Plan;

• ensure the development of

  programs and services that support play-based learning, personalized

• learning and curriculum design that foster success of

  vulnerable students in French Immersion primary classrooms;

• in partnership with classroom

  teachers, to develop classroom support models for complex and multi aged classrooms; and,

• work to develop a plan to address feedback in the French Immersion Program Review.

Salary range: $60,015 per year to $109,520 per year, based on category as assigned by the Teachers Qualification Service (TQS) and previous teaching experience.
