The Senior Manager, Substation Reliability is responsible for the strategic development, governance, and execution oversight of Nova Scotia Power's Substation Capital Investment Program.

This position provides leadership to a team of engineers, project managers and technical specialists responsible for project execution, capital planning, engineering design, protection and control coordination, and reliability improvement initiatives associated with the transmission and distribution substation fleet.

The role is accountable for ensuring capital investments are aligned with long-term asset strategies, system planning requirements, asset condition assessments, regulatory commitments and corporate reliability objectives.

As Senior Manager, Substation Reliability , you will:

• Provide leadership, coaching, performance management and development for the Substation Reliability team.
• Develop plans to implement long-term asset management strategies for transmission and distribution substation assets.
• Work with the EAM team to understand asset health, risk and criticality assessments to identify investment needs and reliability risks.
• Lead the development and oversight of the Substation Capital Investment Program with the Substation Project Management and Substation Design Leads.
• Ensure projects are appropriately scoped, justified, estimated, approved and delivered in accordance with corporate capital governance requirements and ACE directives.
• Provide oversight of project execution activities including engineering design, project management, protection and control, commissioning and project close-out with the Substation Project Management and Substation Design Leads.
• Monitor program performance and implement actions to address schedule, scope, cost and execution risks.
• Ensure capital plans remain responsive to emergent equipment failures and changing system needs.
• Lead development of annual and multi-year capital investment plans, business cases, ACE filings, forecasting and reporting.
• Provide strategic oversight for procurement of major substation equipment and long-lead materials.
• Act as a liaison between Asset Management, Operations, Engineering, System Planning, Project Delivery and other stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and technical direction as required during major equipment failures, system disturbances and restoration events.

These skills will make you successful:

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia or eligible for registration.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible utility engineering, asset management, reliability, operations or capital program experience.
• Leadership experience managing technical or professional teams.
• Demonstrated experience with transmission and distribution substations, asset management and capital planning.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, financial management and analytical skills.

• Responsible for personal safety and the safety of employees, contractors and others under their direction.
• Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company procedures.
• Promote a culture of safety, risk awareness and continuous improvement.

• Ensure environmental requirements are incorporated into planning and project execution activities.
