Corporate Accountant (remote)

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Type of Employment : Regular, Full Time

We are looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, the Corporate Accountant is a member of the Finance team and plays a key role in the preparation and review of NSPI’s financial results and reporting.

Preparation and/or review of account reconciliations and related financial analysis,

Completion of monthly internal control procedures in a timely manner,

Assisting with the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual external Financial Statements, Notes and Management Discussion and Analysis; Assisting the Company’s external auditors during the quarterly reviews and annual audit,

Other accounting and special project responsibilities as assigned.

The successful candidate will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

These Skills Will Make You Successful

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce with a minimum of five years of progressive experience with monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes and reporting.

You will possess or be enrolled in a program to obtain a professional accounting designation. You will have experience with financial reporting systems and with Excel (knowledge of Oracle would be considered an asset).

You must be highly motivated, adept in technical accounting, detailed oriented and possess strong leadership, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

The successful candidate also possesses solid business acumen with a strong customer focus and is innovative, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
