Ice River is currently looking for ten (16) Process Control & Machine Operator(s) – Team Lead (NOC 94140) to join our team.

The positions are full‑time, based on 88 hours per 2‑week cycle with occasional overtime. Applicants must be able to work a 12‑hour rotating continental shift, including nights and weekends.

Position Summary

The Process Control & Machine Operator – Team Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficient operation of the production line, under the direction of the production Supervisor. This role leads a line of production workers, oversees daily line operations, and ensures that production schedules and goals are met while maintaining high‑quality standards. The operator monitors production activity, identifies process problems, troubleshoots causes, and reports inefficiencies and issues to maintenance and the production supervisor.

Duties include the following:
  • Lead, train, coach, and oversee a team of production workers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities and are motivated to meet production targets.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and providing necessary training to team members.
  • Participate in providing constructive feedback to supervisors and managers regarding team performance, productivity, and developmental needs to support continuous improvement and goal alignment.
  • Operate bottling processing equipment via digital control panels, configure settings, track real‑time data, troubleshoot, optimize processes, ensure safety compliance, log data, and apply system updates.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports for quality control and production tracking, conduct regular inspections, make necessary adjustments, and ensure quality requirements are met according to company standards.
  • Analyze and interpret production line flow through continuous monitoring of key performance indicators such as cycle times, bottleneck areas, and material flow rates.
  • Identify and assess potential safety hazards by conducting real‑time risk analysis using sensor data and machine feedback, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and emergency stop mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and address challenges effectively.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitation in compliance with industry standards, utilizing approved chemicals and maintaining traceability and audit documentation.
  • Utilize advanced material handling techniques for safe transport and storage of materials and products, employing equipment such as forklifts while following ergonomic standards.
  • Provide flexible support on the production line by engaging in various tasks to maintain efficiency and meet targets.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors to report concerns and suggest improvements, enhancing overall productivity and safety.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical guidelines for production processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of high school required.
  • Some post‑secondary education required to read and understand technical instructions and sophisticated equipment manuals.
  • Two years plastics injection or bottling line experience required.
  • Two years of previous experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong operating skills in organizing, planning, and time management, with the ability to manage and measure team members’ work progress.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Previous heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Maintain high levels of attendance.
  • Positive attitude and upbeat demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Compensation
  • Starting wage of $26.76 per hour, with an increase of $0.25 after a 3‑month probation period.
  • Eligible for a Line Efficiency (LEF) Bonus upon meeting specified criteria.
  • Operators who work an 8‑hour shift can earn between $10‑$20 when 85%‑95% LEF target is achieved.
  • Operators who work a 10‑hour shift can earn between $15‑$25 when 85%‑95% LEF target is achieved.
  • Operators who work a 12‑hour shift can earn between $20‑$30 when 85%‑95% LEF target is achieved.
  • Overtime paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate after 88 hours worked in a 2‑week cycle.
  • 10 days of paid vacation per year.

  • Inbound transportation costs for out‑of‑province applicants.
  • Private health care insurance coverage for out‑of‑province applicants until eligible for provincial coverage.
  • Eligible for incremental raises in accordance with company policies.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
  • Shift work, including nights and weekends.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods on hard surfaces.
  • Regular bending, stooping, and reaching to handle equipment and materials.
  • Using manual dexterity for operating machinery controls, tools, and computer systems.
  • Good visual and auditory acuity.
  • Operating forklifts and machinery requires coordination and safety adherence.
  • PPE use.
