Gold Medal Cafe - Supervisor/Barista

Brew Your Career at Cypress Mountain. We are looking for an enthusiastic Gold Medal Café Supervisor to join the team and help create a warm, inviting atmosphere for our guests and team members alike. As an on-the-floor leader and primary Barista during the shoulder season (September–mid-November), you’ll be hands-on, supporting the day-to-day operations of the café and leading a team of Baristas. From crafting the perfect espresso and maintaining high service standards to supporting the team and keeping things running smoothly - you’ll play an important role in creating an outstanding coffee and guest experience. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following) :

·          Greet guests with a warm, friendly and approachable attitude, creating a welcoming

atmosphere from the moment they arrive.

·          Prepare and serve a variety of espresso-based drinks, hot chocolate, cold beverages, and food

·          items, ensuring quality and consistency with every order.

·          Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring every guest has a positive, enjoyable experience.

·          Maintain clear communication with both guests and team members to ensure prompt service,

order accuracy, and a smooth workflow.

·          Ensure consistency in food and beverage preparation, managing stock levels to guarantee

availability of the full menu at all times.

·          Rotate and restock inventory, keeping track of products that need to be ordered and collaborating with the team to maintain stock levels.

·          Operate the POS terminal efficiently, ensuring accurate and fast transactions.

·          Follow food safety protocols, including proper cleaning, temperature monitoring, and safe food

storage practices.

·          Open and close the food service outlet, completing necessary start-of-day and end-of-day tasks.

·          Schedule Gold Medal Café Baristas and Cashiers.

·          Train, support and lead the team by example within the Gold Medal Café.

·          Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

·          Strong barista skills and knowledge of espresso, coffee preparation, and café equipment.

·          Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset. 

·          Strong customer service skills with a friendly, welcoming approach.

·          Approachable, dependable, and a strong team player.

·          Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team while leading by example.

·          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·          Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

·          Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

·          Comfortable with POS systems, inventory, and basic inventory control.

·          Commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and high service standards.

·          Ability to handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly.

·          Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings.

·          Experience with scheduling, opening/closing procedures, or café operations is an asset. 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

·          1+ years’ experience in a café or coffee shop.

·          1+ years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role as asset.

·          High School or equivalent.

  CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

·            Must be able to legally work in Canada.

·            Valid driver's license and reliable insured vehicle to get to/from the mountain.

·            Food Safe Level 1 required.
