Senior Product Design Engineer

Our client is a well-established, customer-focused manufacturing organization specializing in the design and production of engineered products. We are seeking an experienced Product Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of new products and the improvement of existing ones, supporting projects from initial concept through to full-scale production.

This position is suited for individuals who combine strong technical expertise with creativity who enjoys working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects and collaborate across multiple functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new products using a variety of manufacturing processes (e.g., plastics, metals, machining, forming, and fabrication).
• Build and evaluate prototypes to validate design concepts.
• Support cost estimation and design optimization efforts.
• Create and maintain production drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop quality control methods and testing procedures.
• Evaluate and validate materials for product applications.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes, equipment, automation, and safety.
• Perform occasional CNC programming or similar machine setup tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, quality, and commercial functions.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors as needed.

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in product design and/or manufacturing that involves printing and/or sheet metal.
• Experience with manufacturing processes that involve plastic extrusion, injection molding, sheet metal, die cut plastic and wire bending.
• Strong experience in product design for manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion or similar).
• Experience producing technical drawings for manufacturing.
• Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, and high-volume production environments.
• Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
