Murray Latta Progressive Machine Inc. is seeking an innovative and driven Product Engineering Manager to join our senior management team. This critical role requires a unique combination of hands-on technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of product management processes. The ideal candidate will take ownership of our Corporate Product Roadmap, leading the charge in developing products from concept to completion. This position offers the opportunity to be highly creative and significantly contribute to the growth of the company by designing cost-effective and manufacturing-efficient products for a wide range of industries, including forestry, oil and gas, construction, and mining. This role is hands-on with the potential to evolve into more managerial responsibilities as the area grows.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

Product Development Leadership:

• Take ownership and responsibility of the Corporate Product Roadmap.
• Lead the hands-on development of new products from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with market requirements and business goals.
• Design products for cost-effectiveness and manufacturing efficiency.

Technical and Process Expertise:

• Serve as the product engineering leader and technical expert, providing direction, coaching, and support as required.
• Clearly communicate objectives and tasks to the engineering team.
• Remove obstacles and streamline processes to ensure the success of engineering and business objectives.
• Develop plans, processes, and procedures for the engineering department.

Team Development:

• Expanding the team as needed - Mentor and grow
• Develop and nurture a network of external engineering suppliers to support product development demands.

Continuous Improvement:

• Constantly seek ways to improve product design, development processes, and overall product quality.

Senior Management Role:

• Participate in senior management team activities and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company.
• Provide technical leadership and insights on all manufacturing projects.
• Ensure the product development area is performing at levels that meet company and project goals.

Qualifications :

• Must be a Professional Engineer registered with EGBC.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a product management or development role.
• Minimum 4 years of experience using SolidWorks in a working environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical drawing standards, dimensioning, and practical/economical tolerances for manufacturing.
• Understanding of the revision control process for drawings and documents.
• Knowledge of industrial machining, welding, and assembly techniques.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with Syspro/ERP is an asset.
