About the Role:

Reporting to the Chair, the Nursing Clinical Coordinator supports the oversight and management of nursing clinical placements, including clinical partner relationship management, risk management and clinical instructor support. This includes both the BScN and BNMN program. The incumbent proactively assists in the management of risk and compliance related to placements, providing essential support and professional development for Clinical Nursing Instructors (CNIs), and supporting the accreditation and approval processes.

The Nursing Clinical Coordinator will:

• Work in collaboration with the Chair or delegate;
• Receive and review student placement and accommodation requests;
• Provide guidance and counsel to students regarding diverse clinical placement opportunities;
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets to facilitate clinical placement coordination;
• Deliver presentations to students to disseminate information about placement opportunities and processes;
• Organize clinical placements for all nursing practicum courses;
• Serve as a liaison with clinical placement partners, fostering positive relationships and coordinating placements;
• Collaborate with faculty and the clinical team to annually review, revise, and update the clinical related handbooks;
• Facilitate processes for establishing legal agreements for local, national, and international clinical placements
• Monitor and oversee clinical practice and safety policies;
• Address student noncompliance with deadlines through proactive problem-solving;
• Track, document, and follow-up on clinical incidents, accidents, communicable disease exposures, and injuries;
• Maintain regular contact and site visits with community organizations to facilitate clinical placements and foster partnerships;
• Assist LNCC with hiring of Clinical Instructor contracts;
• Plan and co- facilitate annual training for Clinical Instructors;
• Conduct thorough reviews of documentation to the CNO to verify student eligibility for licensure;
• Assist with the accreditation and approval processes related to clinical practice.

Please note: This position may require you to work occastional evenings and weekends.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor' degree in nursing or a relevant field;
• Valid G class driver's license with an acceptable drivers' abstract;
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• Nursing experience and experience in an administrative, leadership or management role;
• Knowledge of nursing legislation, nursing skills development, and best practices in nursing clinical education;
• Knowledge of risk management policies and safety practices for Brock, local hospitals, and community organizations, as well as relevant legislation;
• Strong supervisory and negotiation skills;
• Knowledge of community organizations and industries where nursing practica can be leveraged;
• Solid computer competency including Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, database, web applications, and internet search engines; and
• Advanced communications skills (verbal, written and interpersonal), including professional and public speaking;
• Conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically;
• Ability to work with diverse groups, advising, coaching, and strategizing;
• Creativity and problem-solving abilities to provide advice and recommendations to community partners, Clinical Instructors, and students with all aspects of the nursing practicum process;
• Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines, and schedules simultaneously and independently;
• Innovative, flexible, and adaptable with a commitment to teamwork and integrity.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

• Nursing education experience;
• Experience in risk management or occupational health.

Salary and Total Rewards:

• Job Grade L, Salary Scale ($62,580-$107,280);
• Target Hiring Range: $62,580-80,00
• This is a permanent position that includes:

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
