Your opportunity: Under the general direction of the Manager, Undergraduate, Graduate, and Post-Doctoral Initiatives and in close consultation with the Vice-Dean, Teaching, Learning & Undergraduate Programs, Vice-Dean Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies and Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs & Curriculum, the Academic Programs Officer is responsible for managing and supporting activities related to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum cycle and academic programs. This includes the strategic planning and implementation process in areas such as program development and delivery, program closures, development of academic pathways, program quality assessment and improvement and program reviews as part of the University of Toronto Quality Assurance Process. The incumbent also oversees the production of the UTSC academic calendar and manages the program and unit review process ensuring that all internal and external requirements are adhered to. Working closely with members of the Dean's Office, Chairs, members of the Registrar's Office at UTSC, and the Provost's Office, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that these processes operate in accordance with the highest academic and procedural standards, thereby advancing UTSC's academic aspirations and reputation. The Academic Programs Officer will provide project management and coordination oversight and support for initiatives and funding programs that incentivize and support the embedding of equitable, inclusive and anti-racist principles in UTSC'S curricular requirements, pedagogical approaches, and supports. Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising staff and academic leaders on program curriculum change policies and procedures
- Preparing and disseminating curriculum cycle timetables
- Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures
- Leading the development and making recommendations for policy, procedures and best practices for the unit
- Developing charter, scope, resources and schedule for project(s)
- Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with senior management to gain approval for strategies and plans
- Drafting internal and external communications
- Developing and maintaining project quality control standards
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Six to seven years of direct recent and relevant experience in academic program evaluation, academic program development, or academic program and course curriculum changes at the post-secondary level.
- Demonstrated capacity to implement quality assurance/continuous quality improvement processes
- Must have complex project coordination and management experience
- Supervisory experience required
- Demonstrated excellence in complex writing and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Experience with equity-based, anti-racist, anti-colonial, and accessible curriculum development
- Adapt problem solver with exceptional organizational skills and flexibility in adjusting to changing circumstances
- Ability to manage multifaceted, concurrent projects and tasks
- Must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills who can also work independently to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
