Your opportunity:

Under the supervision of both the Academic Director, and the administrative Executive Director, of the School of Cities, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing project, event, and administrative support to partner collaboration and research projects, with a focus on coordination of project collaborators, ensuring completion of project deliverables, organizing project collaboration sessions, and providing high-level evaluation research and advanced information gathering to support project teams. Working closely with the staff at the School of Cities, the Program Coordinator will ensure the delivery of high-quality initiatives and events in partnership with internal and external stakeholders in urban and city-focused government, industry, non-profit and community organizations. The Program Coordinator will support the development, implementation and evaluation of urban and place-based research projects.. The ideal candidate is a master at complex project management, scheduling and event planning, monitoring project budgets, and delivering a superior client-centered experience to all partners. Additional responsibilities include, editing and preparing documents for publication, staffing School of Cities events, hosting complex online webinars and meetings, and , collecting and tracking metrics.

Experience in, and knowledge of, housing policy, municipal democratic engagement strategies, place-based economic development, and/or urban policy and governance, is critical for success in this role. Your responsibilities will include:

• Scheduling day-to-day project activities
• Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
• Coordinating the schedule for program andevent calendars
• Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
• Verifying details and necessary changes to event schedule
• Drafting internal and external communications
• Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
• Coordinating event logistics (catering, AV, room bookings, etc.)

Essential Qualifications:

• Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in urban planning, urban design, political science, public policy, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of recent recent experience related to supporting complex projects, managing project timelines and deliverables, and tracking key metrics
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of housing policy, municipal democratic engagement strategies, place-based economic development, and/or urban policy and governance.
• Experience collaborating across sectors, including community organizations, not-for-profits, local and provincial governments, and private enterprise
• Demonstrated advanced background and evaluation research skills - distilling vast amounts of online and academic data, into concise, verified, and accurate outputs.
• Experience translating academic content into publicly-accessible textual elements.
• Experience delivering high-quality and high-impact, seminars, workshops, conferences (in-person and virtual).
• Advanced experience hosting events with communications tools such as Zoom and MS Teams.
• Demonstrated high degree of diplomacy and tact, and ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
• Demonstrated excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict and competing deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, collaborative skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Forms, SharePoint, Teams) and collaboration tools (Asana, Monday, Trello); familiarity with web content management systems, and communications tools (MailChimp).
• Proficiency with document design tools (Adobe InDesign)
