Chief Technology Officer

Your Role: The CTO is responsible for leading the planning and execution of the Technology strategy for True North Mortgage group of companies. This position reports to the CEO and will provide advice to the Leadership team and occasionally report to the Board of Directors. The Work: Technology Strategy and Integration:

• Develop and implement the company's technology strategy to align with business goals.
• Integrate AI technologies to enhance products, services, and business processes.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve the company's performance and competitive position.
• Lead technology projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Prepare and manage the technology budget, ensuring effective cost management and ROI.
• Provide accurate and timely forecasts to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
• Identify and document eligible R&D projects for SR&ED tax credits.
• Prepare and submit SR&ED applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with CRA requirements.

Best Practices and Innovation:

• Establish and enforce technology best practices across the company.
• Drive continuous improvement through innovation and adoption of industry best practices.
• Ensure SOC 2 Compliance with relevant standards and regulations

Team Leadership and Development:

• Grow and mentor a high-performing team of 15 software developers.
• Oversee the implementation and management of DevOps and DevSecOps practices to streamline software development and deployment processes.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide career development opportunities.

IT Management:

• Manage the IT team to ensure effective and secure operation of all IT systems.
• Oversee IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
• Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect company data and systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Understanding corporate governance and the ability to align technology strategy with corporate governance policies and procedures.
• Proven experience as a CTO or in a similar senior technology leadership role.
• Experience with AI and integrating these technologies into business operations.
• Strong budgeting and financial planning skills.
• Demonstrated ability to grow and lead Software Development and IT teams.
• Knowledge of DevOps with experience in AWS and Kubernetes.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in agile methodologies.
• Previous software development experience is an asset, particularly with PHP. Bonus points for experience with Elixir.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering multi-year projects.

This position is based in Calgary, AB and only available to those who are local or willing to relocate to Calgary. You must be located in Canada with a valid work permit.
