Legal Counsel for Island Commission
Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission
Become Legal Counsel for the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, providing vital in-house legal guidance primarily in appellate matters. This role ensures fair hearings and sound legal decision-making in a quasi-judicial setting. This position requires a results-driven attorney to advise the Commission, focusing on appellate jurisdiction, regulatory advice, and procedural matters. You will conduct legal research and assist in the development of policy documents while liaising with external parties. As part of a focused team, you will navigate complex legal frameworks facilitating fair governance. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on appellate matters to the Commission
- Conduct thorough legal research and craft written opinions
- Review and aid in drafting procedural guidelines
- Liaise with parties during appeals and provide timely updates
- Attend hearings as Commission counsel when necessary
- Law degree and 5+ years practicing experience
- Law Society of Prince Edward Island membership required
- Strong analytical, drafting, and mediation skills
- Independent work ethic while contributing to team goals
- Proficiency in English communication necessary
