Salon, our fine dining private event space, hiring a seasonal Server

Salon Private Dining (162 Cumberland Street) is seeking experienced Event Servers to join our team for the Fall-Winter 2026 event season. This is a seasonal position with the possibility of transferring to a position either with occassional employment at Salon or Alo Catering, or transfer to one of Alo Food Group's restaurants pending availability after the event season. 

Salon is Alo Food Group's intimate private event space located in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood. Salon offers bespoke weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, and bespoke tasting menu & wine pairing dinners among others.

Salon is open any day or time with a confirmed event, though most services are in the dinner hours. 

Salon operates with a tip pool with gratuities are dispersed via paycheque in combination with Alo Food Group's regular pay schedule.

This position is available to begin immediately. AI is not being used in the screening of candidates.

Event Servers are the masters at establishing relationships with their guests. They fully understand that the guest experience is of the utmost importance. Their role is to guide guests through our menus with correct, comprehensive knowledge of the dishes, cocktails and wines that Alo Food Group restaurants and event spaces offer. Servers take ownership of their sections. They communicate as much as possible with the kitchen and fellow team members in order to give the guest the best possible experience. Servers never show signs of distress, they are gracious and genuine at all times. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleaning and setting up dining room

• Greeting guests with water and explaining details of the menu

• Taking orders as needed, accurately noting dietary restrictions, and guiding guests with accurate knowlege about menu items

• Having first contact with chef and management regarding allergies or specific menu modifications

• Ensuring guests have drinks, condiments, and everything they need to have a great meal

• Cleaning and resetting tables between courses

• Ensuring wine offerings are properly stocked and chilled for service

• Running food & beverages

• Being confident selling, recommending, and pouring wine and spirits

• Adding personal touches to ensure emotional connection with guests (offering guests an extra special touch before they even think to ask about it)

• Ensuring wine is properly stored after service, bottles are married, and empty bottles removed

• Ensuring the dining room is clean and organized after service, chairs and banquets crumbed, all tables cleaned, etc.

• Assist team with polishing at the end of service

Skills and Qualifications

 

• Ability to stand, walk and maneuver for extended periods of time 

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs

• Positive attitude and a passion for providing excellent guest experiences

• Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

• Organized with an acute attention to detail 

• WSET 2 or similar experience is a strong asset
