Hiring Seasonal Event Bartender for Fine Dining Private Event Space

Salon Private Dining (162 Cumberland Street) is seeking experienced bartenders to join our team for the Fall-Winter 2026 event season. This is a seasonal position with the possibility of transferring to a position either with occassional employment at Salon or Alo Catering, or transfer to one of Alo Food Group's restaurants pending availability after the event season. 

Salon is Alo Food Group's intimate private event space located in Toronto's Yorkville neighbourhood. Salon offers bespoke weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, and bespoke tasting menu & wine pairing dinners among others.

Salon is open any day or time with a confirmed event, though most services are in the dinner hours. 

Salon operates with a tip pool with gratuities are dispersed via paycheque in combination with Alo Food Group's regular pay schedule.

This position is available to begin immediately. AI is not being used in the screening of candidates.

Bartenders set the expectation for an evening at Alo Food Group restaurants with a drink often being the first item guests order. They show care and thoughtfulness in every beverage served. Through their work they create an unforgettable dining experience. In addition to crafting drinks, their role is to guide guests through our menu with correct, succinct knowledge of ingredients and wines that are offered. Bartenders need to take ownership of the wood. They must communicate as much as possible with the kitchen and fellow team members in order to give the guest the best possible experience. Bartenders never show signs of distress, they are gracious and genuine at all times.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Stock the bar with all necessary supplies

• Prepare beverages for guests with integrity and passion, including coffee and non-alcoholic options

• Prepare all ingredients to par levels ahead of service (fresh juices, syrups, batches, etc.)

• Ensure bar stations and fridges are kept clean and organized at all times

• Ensure all guests receive their beverages within a timely manner

• Ensure beverage consumption is accurately tracked throughout the private event

• Assist the service team in the dining room with all duties including taking orders, pouring wine, and serving food to guests

• Close down the bar after all guests leave, completing closing checklists

• Suggesting and serving wine, spirits, and custom cocktails with knowledge and confidence

• Adding personal touches to ensure emotional connection with guests (guests preferences are remembered, etc.) and seeking opportunities to exceed guest’s expectations

• Ensure wine and spirits are properly stored after service, (bottles are wiped, bottles are married, and empty bottles removed)

• Other duties as assigned 

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

• Ability to stand, walk and maneuver for extended periods of time 

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs

• Positive attitude and a passion for providing excellent guest experiences

• Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

• Organized with an acute attention to detail
