Job Title: Logistics Lead

Reports to: Supervisor, Logistics

Purpose of the Role

Execute tasks as directed by Supervisor ensuring efficient workflow and quality processes to meet delivery standards and operational goals within the logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Lead at Site

• Accountable for the quality of all logistics activities at the site.
• First point of contact with Lab/PSC employees regarding site‑specific changes impacting courier employees.
• Resolve site logistics issues and, when necessary, elevate to Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe working environment.

Operations

• Ensure timely execution of all pickups/deliveries and adherence to routing guidelines.
• Adhere to Master Route and Employee Schedule and deploy resources on an exception basis due to unscheduled absences.
• Maintain up‑to‑date communication devices, checklists, keys and any route‑specific access controls.
• Contribute insight and feedback to monthly operations and finance reports.
• Coordinate fleet repairs, licensing, insurance updates and maintenance schedules.
• Liaise between Couriers and Call Centre on all issues and inform Supervisor.
• Coordinate all specimen transport bag/container replacements.

SOPs, Regulatory Compliance and Document Control

• Coordinate SOP roll‑out, track completion and maintain document control.
• Ensure pre/post‑trip checklists are signed off and stored correctly.
• Assist in explaining/demonstrating policies and procedures.
• Provide awareness and feedback on policy/procedure non‑compliance (e.g., Privacy, TDG, EHS).
• Ensure all corporate documentation and policies are provided and signed off.

Employee Schedules

• Coordinate vacation requests with Supervisor.
• Approve employee time sheets.
• Schedule team meetings with Employees and Supervisor.

Employee Orientation and Training

• Coordinate orientation for newly hired couriers and job‑specific orientation.
• Recommend enhancements to training materials and update them as required.
• Schedule and arrange training sessions for employees.
• Provide yearly driving competency checklist compliance with each courier.

What you bring to the role

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Full valid Class G Driver’s license in Ontario or full valid Class 5 Driver’s license in BC with a clean driving abstract.
• A minimum of 3 years of recent experience in courier operations.
• Completion of LifeLabs Driver Performance Evaluation.
• Experience in office and on‑road environments handling automobiles and the transportation of biohazardous materials.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver up to 50 pounds; some heavy lifting will be involved.
• Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment and adhere to route schedules.
• Experience working in confined spaces, substantial walking, stairs and local frequent stops or provincial highway driving.
• Demonstrated initiative, proactive problem‑solving skills and effective organizational skills, including time management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including conflict resolution guidance.
