Constituency and Communications Assistant

Job Responsibility: Constituency and Communications Assistant – Toronto City Councillor We're looking for a Constituency and Communications Assistant to join the office of City Councillor Rachel Chernos Lin, Ward 15 – Don Valley West. Role Summary The Constituency and Communications Assistant will support the Councillor with resolving constituency concerns, addressing inquiries from members of the public, and writing local communications. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and City staff to determine appropriate actions and responses. This role will report to the Chief of Staff on communications projects and the Senior Advisor, Stakeholder and Community Relations, on constituency files. Key Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Excellent organizational and time management skills;
• Experience managing diverse projects and responsibilities concurrently;
• Resourcefulness, dynamism and problem-solving; and,
• Able to work independently without direction and as part of a team.

Competency in Mailchimp, Canva, Hootsuite, and website design is an asset. Education : Minimum requirement – Bachelor's degree. Duties and Responsibilities

• Act as a front-line staff in managing day-to-day inquiries from residents.
• Write content for digital and hard-copy newsletters and other local communication.
• Work with the Constituency Team on constituency outreach and strategic planning. Monitor current issues that may have an impact on Ward 15.
• Correspond with relevant City staff to ensure resident concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
• Plan and execute local events and consultations, including monthly Coffee Chat meetings.
• Staff the Councillor at local events and prepare briefing materials in advance.
• Create content for social media and the Councillor’s website.
• Ensure all correspondence with constituents and City staff is recorded and logged in the internal database.

The position is full-time and based out of our office at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West. Staff have the option to work from home on Fridays. Please submit a cover letter and resume.
