The Office of Julie Dzerowicz, Member of Parliament for Davenport, serves constituents in one of Toronto's most diverse communities by providing federal government services, addressing local concerns, and fostering community engagement. The office works closely with residents, community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to support public policy initiatives, organize outreach events, facilitate government programs, and strengthen connections between constituents and the federal government. As part of the House of Commons administration, the office is dedicated to public service, democratic engagement, and representing the interests of the Davenport community at the federal level.

Job Description

The office of Julie Dzerowicz Member of Parliament for Davenport is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Constituency Assistant - Events and Outreach.

About the role:

The Constituency Assistant - Events and Outreach is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of community events, meetings, and stakeholder engagements initiatives throughout the riding. This role involves extensive collaboration and organization with local organizations, community leaders, and residents to strengthen relationships and support meaningful engagement opportunities.

The successful candidate will help ensure the Member is represented at important community events and will assist in organizing events hosted by the Member, including roundtables, town halls, question-and-answer sessions, and other community-focused initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring the Member maintains a strong and visible presence throughout the riding.

This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who excels at juggling multiple priorities and ensuring timely follow-up on a variety of local issues. Primary responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and execute the Member's community events, including roundtables, town halls, and other public engagement initiatives in a very organized and detail oriented fashion. 
• Oversee the coordination, planning and logistics for all events, including such things as: run-of-show oversight, venue bookings, guest and volunteer engagement. 
• Manage the Member’s Toronto Calendar, including all critical details, meeting purpose, meeting briefs, etc. with a strict attention to detail and planning.
• Ensure accurate documentation during meetings and timely follow-up files and subsequent communications to the public.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local leaders, stakeholders, and residents.
• Keep updated all databases, master lists with key stakeholder information. 
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, by drafting and coordinating community-facing correspondence, invitations, event communications, and outreach materials.
• Collaborate with colleagues and provide logistical, administrative, and on-site support to ensure successful outreach activities and community engagement efforts.
• Monitor all community groups via all key social media platforms and google groups for local activities and issues in order to maintain strong ties in the community by identifying local concerns and opportunities for engagement.
• Monitor local news and community activities to flag emerging issues at the local and national level and assist in proactive outreach.
• Work with office colleagues, Ministry and Research Bureau contacts, and the Member to find resolutions to issues.

Qualifications

Education:

• Post-secondary education or recent graduation in a relevant field such as events planning communications, public administration, political science, business administration, or a combination of education and experiences in event management, community development or previous volunteer experience.

Experience:

• Accustomed to self-starting and taking initiative where needed. Not afraid to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Deeply organized and detail oriented. 
• Experience working with or engaging with community organizations, clubs, student groups, or non-profit organizations.
• Previous event planning or event coordination experience in a professional, volunteer, student, or community setting.
• Experience with public speaking and presentations.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Knowledge of the riding of Davenport.

Working Requirements:

• Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
• Availability during evenings and weekends as required.
