Instructor Accounting and Payroll Administrator

Job Responsibility:
Job Overview We're seeking a dedicated Accounting & Payroll Instructor to teach CCAB's Accounting & Payroll Administrator diploma. You'll deliver both theoretical and hands-on instruction in bookkeeping, payroll law, tax essentials and computerized accountingwhile coordinating practicums and guiding students toward career-ready competencies.
What You'll Do
- Curriculum Delivery: Develop and deliver daily lesson plans and objectives based on course outlines for both in-class and live-online cohorts.
- Practical Labs & Simulations: Supervise hands-on exercises in QuickBooks, payroll software workflows, remittance processes and tax-form preparation.
- Practicum Coordination: Arrange, monitor and evaluate student work-experience placements; track hours and learning objectives; conduct formal evaluations and manage refunds if placements are delayed per PTIRU standards.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in EQA/PTIRU curriculum-review cycles and recommend enhancements for continuous improvement.
- Assessment & Records: Create and grade assignments, quizzes and exams; maintain accurate attendance, grade and practicum records in compliance with PTIRU and the Private Post-Secondary Education Act.
- Student Support: Provide clear written summaries, recorded lecture segments and one-on-one sessions to reinforce learning and address student questions professionally.
- Cross-Campus Collaboration: Assist with recruitment events, open houses, marketing materials and special projects as requested by management.
What You'll Bring
Required:
- CPA designation or 10 years of professional accounting/payroll experience
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver structured lessons for both in-class and live-online formats
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Provide a clear, up-to-date vulnerable-sector criminal record check
Desirable:
- 2+ years teaching in a BC private post-secondary institution
- Completion of PIPA Foundations (OIPC BC Webinar 1 - 10 Basic Obligations under PIPA; ~60 mins) within your first 90 days
- Familiarity with Moodle or similar LMS platforms
Added Value:
- Completion of W3C WAI Introduction to Web Accessibility MOOC (~16-20 hrs) during your 90-day probation
- Professional Development: Effective January 1, 2026, instructors delivering >= 20 % of program content must complete 5 hrs annual professional development in instructional design, assessment or subject-matter currency (per PTIRU §3.2.9).
