Job Responsibility: JOB POSTING Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) is a fast-growing vibrant organization committed to the development and progress of its Band Members and Community. POSITION TITLE: Tkek Yeel Stem Camp Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Language and Culture SUPERVISOR: Language & Culture Manager TERMS: Full-Time, Term until August 31 st , 2025 REFERENCE #: 2025-076 Purpose of Position: The Language and Culture Department Manager will oversee all program management and financial administration and negotiate on behalf of the Tkek Yeel Stem Camp, while the Camp Coordinator will oversee the Tkek Yeel Stem Camp programs and services. The Camp Coordinator provides leadership and guidance to the staff who will help develop and implement the summer camp's long and short-term goals and objectives. The Camp Coordinator will work with the Language and Culture Department Manager and staff, and other internal staff hosting various summer camp programs and services. This position will work with external partners as well. Duties and Responsibilities: The Tkek Yeel Stem Camp Coordinator oversees the planning, development and implementation of the summer camp programs and services, including planning and implementing inter-generational teachings of our language, history and culture. The incumbent, along with the camp staff will operate the summer camp program in accordance with the approved TteS Administration Procedures, Finance Administration Law, HR Employee Policy and Procedures Manual, and laws and legislation governing the care of children and youth. Strategic leadership

• To provide sound leadership and guide the Tkek Yeel Stem staff in the planning, development and implementation of the summer camp programs and services. The Camp Coordinator will help to continually review and update the Camp Policies and Procedure Handbook so it will meet the long and short-term goals and objectives.
• Research and monitors applicable summer youth camp policies so it is following applicable laws and legislation and makes recommendations to the Language and Culture Department Manager.
• Serves as a liaison between the Language and Culture Department Manager and staff, TteS community members, Chief and Council, and external agencies as needed.
• Promotes the Tkek Yeels Stem Camp and ensures that TteS members are given priority in all summer camp programs and services.

Financial Management:

• Hires consultants/contractors as needed for the Tkek Yeek Stem summer camp program and services and submit receipt or invoices in a timely manner.
• Hire Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders to help teach our language, history and culture and submit cheque requisitions in a timely manner and ensure that the camp staff supervise the children while they are teaching these programs and services.
• Manage all accounts payable and receivable accounts and keeps an accurate accounting record.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with TteS members, LC and CSD staff and accounting staff.

Human Resources and Administration:

• Will ensure the camp staff uphold the TteS Employment Policy and Procedures Manual,
• If necessary, help the LC dept. Manager hire camp staff.
• Will host staff training sessions, such as, first aide, bear aware, canoeing, water safety, and so on.
• Will provide professional and technical staff support to staff,
• Will provide coaching or mentoring of staff as needed.

Community relations:

• Promotes and creates opportunities for intergenerational teaching at the Tkek Yeel Stem summer camp.
• Will utilize the LC dept list of Elders/Traditional Knowledge Keepers so they may be hired to help teach the children and youth at the summer camp.
• Will utilize list of TteS artists, drummers, singers, regalia makers, videographers, photographers, knapping, hunting fishing, basket making and so on so they may teach the children and youth.

• Will work in collaboration with the Community Services Department staff to host gatherings and to provide opportunities for intergenerational teachings.
• Will develop and distribute posters advertising the summer camp and weekly calendar.
• Will invite SFU language proficiency program students and instructor to participate and teach our language, history and culture to the children and youth.

Professional Certification, Education and Experience:

• Social work certificate, education aide certificate or similar post-secondary education.
• Language proficiency certification as asset.
• First Aide and Transportation certificate.
• Lifeguard certificate as asset.
• Basic computer certificate.
• Proven ability to work with children and youth.
• Minimum of two years in a supervisory role, especially in an indigenous organization.
• We will need to provide Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector and keep up to date throughout employment.

Financial Responsibility: Oversee the Tkek Yeel Stem budget Supervision or Training Duties: Will supervise the Tkek Yeel Stem Summer Camp workers and cook Skills and Abilities:

Special Requirements: Knowledgeable of Secwépemc language, history and culture HOURS OF WORK: Normal Day shifts - 7 hours. Non-normal shifts may be required. PAY GRADE: Starting at $25.98 - $38.21 per hour depending on skills and experience.
