Salary range: 74,800 - 91,400

Annual bonus target based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance): 7.5%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We’re looking for an Intermediate or Senior Underwriter, Marine to join our growing Coast Underwriters team!

What you’ll do here:

• Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes, and recommend solutions
• Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
• Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company
• Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events
• Provide ongoing support in expanding the department, and make recommendations for process improvements
• Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals
• Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements and cancellations
• As directed, generate letters and memos to brokers from the system
• Support team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact

What you bring to the table:

• University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in Speciality Lines Underwriting for intermediate level and minimum 5 years for the senior level. Experience in marine underwriting is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge in Excel is an asset
• Analytical, self‑motivated and strive to deliver at a high standard
• Initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Strong team player, with outstanding collaboration and communication skills
• Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
• Interested in and stay up to date on business trends or other developments impacting our industry
• Industry acknowledged license such CIP/CRM/CAIB, etc. or working towards it
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
