Superintendent Projects
BHP
About BHP
At BHP, we believe our purpose goes beyond mining: we work to improve lives and create a more sustainable future. We are a global resources company with operations in more than 90 locations worldwide.
In Canada, our presence is growing with the development of one of the most significant potash projects in the world, Jansen. This project reflects our long-term commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and economic growth.
About Potash And The Jansen Project
Imagine being part of something truly world-class, something that’s shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and responsible resource development. That’s what the Jansen Potash Project offers.
Located about 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jansen is set to become one of the largest and most sustainable potash mines on the planet. With a CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment, it marks the biggest private investment in Saskatchewan’s history, and a bold step forward for BHP in Canada.
But Jansen is more than a mine; it’s a long-term opportunity to build something meaningful. During construction, it will create around 5,500 jobs, and once in operation, 900 permanent roles. Whether you're looking to grow your career, contribute to a sustainable future, or be part of a legacy project, Jansen could be the place where it all begins.
Why BHP?
At BHP, we are transforming the way mining is done. We embrace innovation, sustainability, and inclusion to build a smarter, safer, and more human future.
We are proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2026 , a testament to our dedication to fostering a positive, diverse, and rewarding work environment. At BHP, you’ll be part of a team that values safety, integrity, performance, and collaboration.
The Challenge Ahead
As Superintendent Projects, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring BHP’s systems, processes, and capital portfolio deliver safe, productive, and value driven outcomes. You will be accountable for developing, prioritizing, and assuring a rolling two year capital portfolio that balances value creation, risk reduction, and operational continuity.
Working within the Asset Engineering function, you will collaborate closely with Governance & Technical Stewardship, Operations, Integrated Operations, Planning & Technical, Environment, and Health, Safety and Security teams. This role requires strong stakeholder leadership, disciplined portfolio governance, and a commitment to continuous improvement across a complex, site based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prioritize, and resource the asset capital portfolio, including portfolio level benchmarking and prioritization.
- Lead and oversee a team of project resources to deliver the capital portfolio, managing costs, resourcing, performance, and delivery commitments.
- Ensure safe, accurate project plans and schedules are in place to support production and asset priorities.
- Identify and engage key stakeholders, understand their needs, manage expectations, and deliver outcomes across functional boundaries.
- Coach and empower team members through regular feedback, fostering an inclusive culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.
- Promote best practices, motivate others to identify improvement opportunities, and remove barriers to change through effective collaboration.
What You'll Bring To The Role
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in the resource or energy sector, ideally within a site based environment and preferably in potash.
- Demonstrated experience managing a capital portfolio, including sustaining capital projects and stage gated project processes.
- Capability to lead and coordinate small to medium sized teams, including internal and external resources.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Highly organized, with excellent communication, relationship building, and influencing skills.
Work Location
This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The work schedule for this role is 8/80.
For those not living locally, BHP provides relocation assistance to the local Jansen area. Alternatively, you can enjoy the convenience and comfort of our onsite camp accommodation at Discovery Lodge during your shifts.
BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.
Why You'll Love Working Here
At BHP, we understand that to bring your best, you need to feel your best. That’s why our benefits are designed to support your health, your growth, and your personal balance.
- Professional Development: Continuous learning and real opportunities for growth.
- Compensation: Fair and competitive, reflecting your role, skills, and achievements.
- Inclusive Culture: We foster a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and free to express their authentic identity.
And so much more!
