CRIM 101 – Introduction to Criminology

A general overview of the subject of criminology and understanding of basic concepts including crime, law, deviance, and delinquency. Includes: an introduction to the measurement of crime and statistics on crime and victimization; victimology, and victims’ rights; theories of crime; and crime classifications.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate must:

• hold a MA or PhD in field or equivalent discipline; PhD is preferred;
• have a record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level;
• have experience managing classroom and online technologies used by the University of Regina (including UR Courses [Moodle])

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range Per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours

The instructor will deliver the course on campus face-to-face in Saskatoon on Campus, The Concourse, Innovation Place on Thursdays 2:30-5:15p. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week. Course Modality On Campus - Face to Face Course Dates and Time September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026 -R-1430-1715 Duration (if Term/Temporary) September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026. Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
